Will Rogers Range Riders was formed in the late 1930s just as the Panhandle was pulling out of seven years of drought, dust storms and depression. It was the first riding club organized in Amarillo.
The group took their name from the American cowboy and humorist Will Rogers. Rogers was also a trick roper, actor, author and philosopher. The organization was actually chartered on May 19, 1941 and incorporated on May 19, 1946.
